Reaching the Nations
Jesus said, “Go into all the world.”
In New York City, the world is coming to us.
The old concept of foreign missions is made obsolete in a global city,
such as New York. New York is a place and a platform for reaching
a wide range of cultural and ethnic groups. Many of the millions of
newcomers to this growing city become far more open to Christianity
than they were before arriving.
Some of the great opportunities to be involved with reaching people
of the nations are:
Prayer
If my people, who call on my name, will humble themselves and pray,
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from
heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
YWAM Manhattan developed out of prayer.
Before we became a base we came in response to the city’s need after
the 911 terrorist attack. After spending months in the city, praying with
thousands of people on the streets around Ground Zero, we saw first hand
the impact of prayer on people.
We continue to pray with people at prayer stations, but also see the need
to pray for the city and the areas of influence over the city, and the nation.
For example, City Hall, Wall Street, churches, schools, media and
entertainment, the arts, United Nations, etc.
The prayer of a righteous man Is powerful and effective. James 5:16
